Mo’Nique Says She Won’t Celebrate Steve Harvey’s Recent Hosting Losses

Talk show host Steve Harvey has suffered a few minor setbacks. It was announced that his daytime talk show Steve, originally titled The Steve Harvey Show, would be ending in June and American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson would be taking over his slot. That was followed by the news that actress Melissa McCarthy would replace him as the host of Little Big Shots to bring in a “fresh perspective” for the family-friendly show. While many have taken the opportunity to make fun of Harvey, Mo’Nique didn’t think it was appropriate to kick a man while he’s down.

It isn’t as if Harvey is broken and hurting for opportunities; he’s still a best-selling author, a radio host, a successful actor and comedian, a producer, and the host of Family Feud. However, a loss is a loss, and although they’ve had their differences in the past, Mo’Nique shared with fans that she would never slander Harvey during his transition. She mentioned that she’s come across memes making fun of Harvey, and that’s something she doesn’t to be associated with that behavior.

“We do not celebrate what appears to be someone else’s demise,” she reportedly said on a live stream with her husband, Sidney Hicks. “We do not stand and applaud and say ‘Yeah, look what’s happening,’ ‘That’s what you get.’ That’s not where we’re coming from. That’s not a stance we’ve ever taken,” She added, “So what I would ask y’all to do…we gotta love our folks through it.”

Earlier this year, Mo’Nique visited Harvey’s show where the two engaged in a tense discussion about her decision to boycott Netflix over what she said were their gender and racial biases. After the dust settled, the two longtime friends were able to come together to agree to disagree, but not before the heated conversation made the rounds on social media.
