Independent 24/7 radio for new hip-hop, electronic, and R&B
Get Known Radio is a continuously-broadcasting, hand-curated stream — paired with a daily news desk and a free music submission portal — built for listeners who want to hear what's coming next, not what already broke through. We are independent, listener-supported, and answer to no label, distributor, or playlist deal.
What's on the air right now
The station's daily rotation runs roughly 60% independent and unsigned artists, 25% recent major-label releases that fit the editorial taste, and 15% archival cuts that put the new stuff in context. Every track is reviewed by a person before it airs. There is no algorithm choosing what you hear, no "smart" shuffle, and no paid placement. If a track is on the rotation, it earned its spot the same way every other one did.
We lean into the records that other stations and streaming editorial typically ignore: regional rap from cities outside the obvious five, R&B records from independent producers, and the club-leaning electronic music — UK garage, Jersey club, footwork, baile, amapiano, and the hybrids — that sits at the edges of those scenes. The mix changes with the seasons; the editorial taste does not.
The daily news desk
The site's news archive collects what we consider the most worthwhile reporting from the hip-hop and R&B press each day — XXL, Rap-Up, HotNewHipHop, and a rotating cast of independent outlets. Every linked story sends readers directly to the publisher who reported it; we do not republish full articles. Where it adds something, we attach a short editor's note explaining why the story matters or what to watch next.
Our own original writing — short reviews, artist spotlights, and longer essays on the genre's economics — is published under the Reviews and Features sections and is written by the editorial team. None of it is generated, syndicated, or sponsored.
How tracks get on the rotation
Artists submit through the submission portal. Submissions are free. We listen to every track, ask for one streaming-quality file plus a short note about the record, and confirm the submitter has the rights to license it to us. Tracks we accept are added to the rotation within a couple of weeks, and we reach out by email to confirm. Tracks we don't take are kept on file — we revisit the archive when programming themed blocks.
We do not run pay-for-play, follower exchanges, or playlist swaps. If anyone tells you they can buy a placement on the station for you, they are lying.

Who runs the station
Get Known Radio is operated by a small editorial team out of New York, with collaborators in Detroit and London who help with weekend programming and tour coverage. The station is not affiliated with a label or advertising network. Our about page has the longer version of the story and the editorial process; the contact page lists every email we read.
How to listen
The live stream plays directly in this page when you press the tune-in button — there is no app to download and nothing to install. The audio is delivered through a Shoutcast endpoint and works on every modern browser, mobile included. If you prefer a third-party player, point any Shoutcast-compatible app at radio.getknownradio.com.
