Tom Brady Kicks Off April Fool’s Day By Announcing His Retirement

If you’re a fan of the New England Patriots, the last thing you would want is for Tom Brady to retire. Meanwhile, if you’re a football fan, you probably want Brady to retire immediately so your team can finally have a chance at winning a championship. The latter had a glimmer of hope today as Tom Brady made his Twitter debut. In the past, Brady has mostly operated through Instagram but never made his way to Twitter. That all changed today when he offered a simple message: “I’m retiring. In my spare time, I’ll be tweeting.”

Brady then followed up the tweet, asking if his message was “bad joke?”

Considering it’s April 1st, it’s obvious that the tweet was an obvious April Fools joke although Patriots fans probably aren’t laughing that hard over it. Just last week, tight end Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement from the sport so Pats supporters are a little sensitive when it comes to anything involving their team. 

Brady has said that he hopes to play until he’s 45 years old. As of right now, he is 41 and will turn 42 on August 3rd so he is still has a few years left before retirement.
