Ronda Rousey To Undergo Surgery, Could Be Out Of WWE Until 2020

The hand injury Ronda Rousey sustained during the Triple Threat main event match at Wrestlemania 35 wasn’t part of the act, and she’s now scheduled to undergo surgery that could keep her out of action until next year.

According to Fightful, the former Raw Women’s champion will go under the knife on Tuesday and WWE officials are hopeful she’ll be back in the ring towards the end of the year or early 2020.

Rousey lost her title at Wrestlemania 35 on April 7 after being pinned by Becky Lynch. The UFC Hall of Famer was reportedly back stage at the Monday Night Raw immediately after Mania, but she did not make an appearance on the program. Even before suffering the hand injury, it was believed that Rousey planned to take an extended period away from the company to start a family with her husband, Travis Browne.

While Rousey takes some time off, WWE Women’s champion Becky Lynch has already planted the seeds to keep their feud alive for whenever Rousey is cleared for action again. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, “The Man” took some more jabs at Ronda, including how the UFC Hall of Famer “couldn’t hack” the WWE schedule.

Lynch tells SI:

“Only four months after having a part-time schedule, after making her debut at WrestleMania – having been on the cover of everything, just handed everything, she was crying in her kitchen about how she couldn’t make her husband breakfast. She couldn’t hack our schedule. Yet we do this every single night, 52 weeks a year, yet she couldn’t handle it for four months.”
