Maury Wants Jay-Z & Beyonce To Remix His Show’s Theme Song

For some odd reason, Maury’s become hip-hop adjacent over the years. In recent times, he’s reached out to artists like Cardi B, Offset, and Drake on social media in the midst of personal drama going on in their lives. However, his history with the genre goes back to the mid-2000s when he brought Bizzy Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony to the show to serenade to a girl born with a severe health condition. In a recent interview with XXL, Maury spoke about his relationship including the importance of Bizzy Bone’s appearance on his show.

“She was a big fan of his,” he recalled. “I love when hip-hop artists respond to something like that because it shows people that they do have concerns [and] a conscience. I think too much of the public took the wrong view of hip-hop, especially way back in the gangsta rap days. They felt that these people didn’t have any heart and soul. So, I love that.”

He admits that he’s a fan of some of the game’s pioneers like Run-DMC and LL Cool J. However, he was asked who he’d enlist to remix the Maury soundtrack if he had the choice. “Jay-Z. He can bring Beyoncé for backup,” he replied.

He explained that he previously tried to get HOV on his show at one point but ultimately, he received a signed copy of one of Jay’s best bodies of work.

I wanted Jay-Z desperately on one of my anniversary shows. He sent me an autographed poster of [The Black Album]. That’s the closest I’ve ever got. Every so often I give him a shout-out hoping he’ll come on,” he said.
