Hip-Hop Pays Tribute To Nipsey Hussle After Fatal Shooting

Sunday afternoon (March 31st) Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed outside of his Los Angeles Marathon clothing store. The rapper was reportedly shot along with two other men, with Nip being the only one not to make it out alive.

Naturally, such news has sent a wave of shock and ultimate heartbreak throughout the hip-hop community and beyond. Neighborhood Nip is survived by longtime girlfriend and actress Lauren London and his children. Since news arrived of his tragic passing, his peers and supports have poured out tributes to mourn and celebrate the emcee, who earned a GRAMMY nomination this year for his Victory Lap opus.

Among those paying tribute include Drake who took to Instagram to reveal that he and Nipsey were finally planning to get into the studio after so long.

“My whole energy is just at a low right now hearing this,” penned Drake in an Instagram post. “We just linked for the first time in years and said we were gonna do a new song this summer cause it had been too long.”

Prior to his death, Nipsey Hussle was effectively establishing himself as a force beyond music, speaking loudly and prominently within his city, well-known for being a community organizer and was also working on a documentary about Dr. Sebi, known for his claims of discovering the cure to HIV/AIDS. Sebi died under mysterious circumstances in 2016.
