Ghostface Killah’s Son, Sun God, Raps About His Own ‘Slick S**t’
One mistake the seeds of many rappers do when they decide to pursue rap is to try to emulate their famed parent. But, there is no methodological journey to becoming the clone of your iconic rapping mommy or daddy. Luckily, Sun God knows this. He is the son of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah, arguably a top-rated lyrical icon. You might recall his verse on his daddy’s More Fish track “Street Opera” or Fishscale‘s “Dogs of War.” In his new song “Slick S**t,” the Staten Island native sets the tone for the borough’s next notable generation of hip-hop.
Produced by Zeph of Dock Street Records, Sun God goes into a symphonic burst about his typical choice of movement in light of impressionable manhood. A topic his daddy is infamous for consistently rendering. Setting off the track with, “I hear you niggas talking that slick shit, by y’all ain’t taking charges,” Sun God displays a recognizable gritty Shaolin style that cannot be denied.
Sun God’s “Slick S**t” comes during a pretty pivotal era of the Wu-Tang Clan legacy. Just last month, after the release of the documentary Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics And Men and Hulu mini web series Wu-Tang: An American Saga, which is all in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the collective’s debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), three grown babies of the Wu-Tang came together to form the group 2nd Generation WU. Comprised by the son of U-God, iNTeLL, the son of Method Man, PXWER, and the son of the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Young Dirty Bastard, 2nd Generation WU dropped their debut track featuring Sun God titled “7.O.D.” It is time to witness the Wu-Tang saga continue.
