Ben Roethlisberger Admits To Being A Bad Leader Last Season

Over the last few months, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the most scrutinized professional sports teams in the world. This is because of the public falling out from players such as Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown who had some pretty harsh words for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Both players alluded to the fact that Big Ben is a poor leader and can be an alienating presence in the locker room. Today, Roethlisberger addressed the media and spoke about his shortcomings.

“I lacked in leadership,” Roethlisberger explained. “Because that’s my job as the leader of this team, to get us to the playoffs. I’m gonna need to focus and refocus my energy and time on, how can I be a better leader to get us back to the playoffs?”

The Steelers quarterback also talked about how there are new players coming into the locker room every year and that for now he just wants to pay attention to the guys that are on the team.

“You just have to focus on the guys that are here and make sure they are good,” Roethlisberger said. “Everyone I’ve talked to is good with me … We’ve been attacked from all angles this year, this offseason. We just need to stick together and have each other’s backs.”
The Steelers missed the playoffs last season after finishing with a record of 9-6-1.
