Amaal Follows Up WIth “Coming & Going”

Earlier in the year, Somali-born, Toronto-based siren Amaal unleashed her “Not What I Thought” single, signaling a return to the forefront for the budding songstress. Now, in keeping up with the momentum that the lush track brought forth, Amaal doubles down with her newest single “Coming & Going.”

A refugee of the Somalian civil war that broke out in the early 90s, Amaal is currently prepping a debut EP that will double as a vehicle of self-exploration. According to an official statement, the effort will span “heartbreak, loving (too much), toxic patriarchy in a relationship and her sensual nodes; all these topics are embodied within the strength and endurance that is required of all women.”

Already, Amaal is finding her stride with textured backdrops and airy vocals. At the moment, “Not What I Thought” is nearing a milestone of one million views on YouTube for the burgeoning singer and points toward yet another formidable name to throw into the ring of rising talent in the resurging realm of R&B.

Quotable Lyrics

I know you
You’re taking my mind and putting it down
And I can’t fight this feeling
All around me, there you are
