YG Reveals Title Of His Upcoming Album

YG was supposed to release his fourth studio album as a complete surprise but when his life was turned around by the death of his close friend Nipsey Hussle, he decided to postpone the drop so that he and his fans could take time to remember the Los Angeles rapper. The two were extremely close, repping different sets but collaborating numerous times throughout their careers. YG spoke out about his friend’s passing, noting that it’s been difficult for him to gather the fact that Nipsey is actually gone. He ended up rescheduling the release of his next project and today, the official title of the album was revealed.

YG spoke with Billboard and gave them first dibs on the album’s official title. 4REAL 4REAL will be out on May 3 and according to the publication, it’s one of his most “confident” pieces of storytelling to date. In the past, YG has been known to freestyle his verses, sometimes taking time at the mic to actually write. This time around though, he took time to perfect the lyrics on 4REAL 4REAL, which apparently shows on the album’s opener.

The 29-year-old Compton rapper dropped his last album Stay Dangerous in the summer so for him to return so quickly means that he’s basically been living in the studio. As he says in his Billboard feature, music is his life. “If I’m not doing music, I feel depressed. I feel like I ain’t shit,” he said. “I like to create, and right now, I know where I want to be, and I know how to get there.”
