Wrestlemania 35: Brock Lesnar Drops Title, Gets Trolled By Daniel Cormier

Brock Lesnar’s reign as WWE Universal Champion came to a halt last night at Wrestlemania 35, as Seth Rollins defeated The Beast Incarnate in the opening match of the main card.

Lesnar dominated Rollins before the match ever officially began but a well-timed low-blow from Rollins, followed by a series of “curb stomps,” paved the way for the crowning of a new WWE Universal champ.

Prior to the championship bout, Lesnar’s advocate, Paul Heyman, announced that his client wanted to open the show and gets things over with ASAP so he could fly to Las Vegas, “where he is ultimately appreciated.”

Heyman’s comments, and the fact that Lesnar lost the title, certainly suggest that The Beast will now shift his focus to the octagon, where it is believed he’ll square off against UFC Heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier.

DC took some satisfaction in seeing Lesnar lose at Wrestlemania. He posted the following on twitter moments after Rollins’ victory, “Ha, Brock got beat up.”

Lesnar has been on a collision course with Cormier ever since July 2018, when the two came face-to-face in the octagon after Cormier defeated Stipe Miocic for the title at UFC 226.

Brock hasn’t fought in the UFC since 2017, when he picked up a victory against Mark Hunt – though the match was later ruled a no-contest due to Lesnar’s failed drug test.

According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, current plans call for Brock and DC to do battle in August.

“The UFC wants (Lesnar) back, as of right now he wants to be back, they’re giving him a heavyweight title fight if he comes back,” Ariel Helwani said on SportsCenter. “Daniel Cormier, the heavyweight champion, wants to fight him. Right now, the plan is for them to fight in August, later this summer, for that heavyweight championship. It’s not signed just yet, but that’s currently the plan.”
