Warriors’ Kevin Durant Ruled Out For Game 2: Report

Kevin Durant won’t be suiting up for Game 2 at Oracle Arena on Thursday night, as he continues to recover from the mild calf strain he suffered against the Houston Rockets on May 8.

Earlier this week ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported that Durant is scheduled to be re-evaluated on Thursday, so it was always considered a long shot that he’d play in Game 2.

Durant leads all players in points per game this post-season, averaging 34.2 a night to go along with 5.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists – but the Warriors haven’t missed a beat without him thus far. Stephen Curry led all scorers in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals with 36 to go along with seven assists and six rebounds, while Klay Thompson chipped in 26 in the 114-96 victory.

Game 2, airing on ESPN, is scheduled to tipoff at 9:00pm ET on Thursday night. The series will then shift to Portland for Games 3 and 4 on Saturday and Monday. If the Warriors cruise to victory tomorrow night like they did in Game 1, it’s reasonable to believe Durant could continue to sit out until the Blazers prove they’re a threat.
