UFC Planning Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Cormier Title Fight This Summer: Report

Brock Lesnar’s path to the octagon is clear now that he is no longer the WWE Universal Champion, and the UFC has reportedly pencilled him in for a Heavyweight title fight against Daniel Cormier.

According to a report by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, UFC President Dana White is eyeing a Lesnar vs Cormier main event for the UFC 241 PPV in August, although a venue has not been announced and nothing has been signed.

“The UFC wants (Lesnar) back, as of right now he wants to be back, they’re giving him a heavyweight title fight if he comes back,” Ariel Helwani said on SportsCenter. “Daniel Cormier, the heavyweight champion, wants to fight him. Right now, the plan is for them to fight in August, later this summer, for that heavyweight championship. It’s not signed just yet, but that’s currently the plan.”

Cormier, who had originally planned to retire after his 40th birthday in March, recently told TMZ Sports that Lesnar is the fight he wants right now.

“It’s the fight I want,” DC says. “I think everyone wants to fight Brock. We all want to fight Brock.”

He added: “Dana get on the phone right now. If you haven’t called him yet, do it today! What are you waiting for? Get this s–t on the books. Let’s get this on the books!”

Lesnar has been on a collision course with Cormier ever since July 2018, when the two came face-to-face in the octagon after Cormier defeated Stipe Miocic for the title at UFC 226.

Brock hasn’t fought in the UFC since 2017, when he picked up a victory against Mark Hunt – though the match was later ruled a no-contest due to Lesnar’s failed drug test.
