The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s First Three Phases Get An Epic Name

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has garnered acclaim for the overall quality of its films, there remains one integral quality that should not go uncelebrated. The sense of vision from studio head Kevin Feige, who has always tended to operate in the interest of the bigger picture. Now, with Avengers: Endgame set to drop at the end of April, it appears as if a long-winding story has come to an end. Yet, as Feige tells it, the first twenty-two films are but one part of a greater tale, a part he has officially dubbed “The Infinity Saga.”

“We wanted to bring to a conclusion a series of movies in a way that had never been done before,” explains Feige, via Empire.  “Harry Potter had an ending because there were only so many books. Lord of the Rings too. But we thought, 22 movies in, wouldn’t it be fun to bring some finality to the storyline.”

It’s cool to see Feige’s comic book sensibilities continue to come alive in various fashions. Like “Secret War” in the comic-book medium, The Infinity Saga officially has a cool title that encompasses the wide-ranging story arc. And now, with the Infinity Saga coming to an end, it’s exciting to see which direction the next chapter of the saga takes.
