Steve Kerr Confident Kevin Durant Will Be Back For Conference Finals

Kevin Durant left the Golden State Warriors match against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday with an injury. Many feared the worst at the time as it looked as though Durant had injured his Achilles. After undergoing an MRI, it was clear that Durant had a right calf strain which will keep him out of the rest of the second-round. While this is bad news for the Warriors and their fans, head coach Steve Kerr is remaining optimistic for the time being.

“I think it’s good news,” Kerr said according to ESPN. “Calf strain, he’s had them before. He’s responded well. Obviously, we’re disappointed he won’t be able to play in this series. If we’re able to win the series and move on, looks good for his return in the not-too-distant future.”

The Warriors are currently up 3-2 in their series against the Rockets and are in Houston for Game 6 tonight. With Durant out of the lineup, Golden State will be facing quite a bit of adversity, although Kerr isn’t too worried about it all.

“It’s the playoffs, it’s the ultimate test,” Kerr said. “We’re in a great spot, we’re up 3-2. Got championship rings on our fingers. Lot of experience and a lot of confidence that comes from that. So let’s go out there and let it rip.”

Durant has been one of if not the best player in the playoffs thus far.
