Pope Francis Pledges $500,000 For Migrants Stuck At US Border

Pope Francis is funneling $500,000 of the Roman Catholic church’s funds into a deposit box meant for the migrants affected by US border policy. The monies will be disseminated across 27 different projects in Mexico, all tasked with providing food, lodging, and basic necessities for the asylum-seekers.

“In recent months, thousands of migrants have arrived in Mexico, having traveled more than 4,000 kilometers on foot and with makeshift vehicles from Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. Men and women, often with young children, flee poverty and violence, hoping for a better future in the United States,” writes Peter’s Pence, the subsidiary set up to streamline the process.

PP described the situation by overriding potential insensitivity, with indisputable data. Many of the Central American countries affected by US border policy ascribe themselves to the Roman Catholic church, either official or by the sheer magnitude of worshippers. Pope Francis’ contribution shouldn’t be interpreted as a charitable donation, but an obligation to his worshippers.

There’s a hope this donation will pass through the proper hands without further recourse.”All these people were stranded, unable to enter the United States, without a home or livelihood,” PP’s statement goes on to say. “The Catholic Church hosts thousands of them in hotels within the dioceses or religious congregations, providing basic necessities, from housing to clothing.”
