Jordy Nelson To Retire From NFL After 11 Seasons: Report
Longtime Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson is reportedly set to retire from the NFL after 11 seasons, according to NFL Network’s James Jones.
Nelson, 33, was recently released by the Oakland Raiders following 15 games with the team last season.
Prior to signing with the Raiders last offseason, Nelson spent nine seasons with the Green Bay Packers where he established himself as one of Aaron Rodgers’ favorite targets. During his time in Green Bay, Nelson caught 550 passes for 7,848 yards and 69 touchdowns.
From 2011 to 2016, the 6’3 receiver recorded four seasons with 1,200+ receiving yards and three with double-digit touchdowns, including a career-high 15 TD grabs in 2011, and a Pro Bowl campaign in 2014, when he had a career-best 1,519 receiving yards to go along with 13 TDs. He also earned NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors in 2016 after he returned from a torn ACL to catch 97 passes for 1,257 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Nelson, who was selected in the second round out of Kansas State in the 2008 NFL Draft, finishes his career with 613 catches for 8,587 yards and 72 touchdowns in 151 games.
