Jimmer Fredette Gets Another Chance In The NBA, Signs 2-Year Deal With Suns

Just moments before the NCAA March Madness Tournament officially kicked off, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that former BYU star Jimmer Fredette has signed a two-year deal with the Phoenix Suns.

The timing of the announcement was more than appropriate, considering Fredette led the nation in scoring during his senior season in 2011 and was named the National College Player of the Year.

Following his illustrious college career, Fredette was selected 10th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks but was subsequently traded to the Sacramento Kings. He spent a couple seasons with the Kings before bouncing around from Chicago to New Orleans to New York during his five NBA seasons.

He eventually headed to China in 2016 to continue his professional career. Jimmer thrived in the Chinese Basketball Association with the Shanghai Sharks, making the All Star team in each of his three seasons and earning CBA International MVP honors in 2017.

Fredette, 30, will now join the 17-55 Suns for the remainder of the season. Phoenix will host the Detroit Pistons tonight.
