Coronavirus Has Given Us One Great Joy: The Cuomo Brothers

There are a few political family dynasties that America is intimately acquainted with. We know The Kennedys. We know The Bushes. The Clintons and Obamas are on their way to be dynasties. However, New York has its own royal family. They are The Cuomos.

The father, Mario Cuomo, was the patriarch. He served as the 52nd Governor of New York for three terms, from 1983 to 1994, Lieutenant Governor of New York from 1979 to 1982, and Secretary of State of New York from 1975 to 1978. Mario transitioned in 2015.

His oldest son, Andrew Cuomo, has stepped up to carry the name. Andrew was married to Kerry Kennedy, the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Skakel Kennedy. He served as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Bill Clinton from 1997 to 2001. In November 2006, Andrew was elected New York State Attorney General; and on November 2, 2010, he followed in his father’s footsteps as the Governor of New York. He still occupies that office.

His younger son, Chris Cuomo, is not necessarily in politics but is a political journalist. He has worked for ABC News, Primetime and was a co-host on Good Morning America. In 2013, he joined CNN. First, he was the co-host in the morning show, New Day and not hosts his own evening show called Cuomo Prime Time.

This is where the joy comes in…

While the world is getting used to seeing Andrew speak on behalf of the Empire state, we are also getting used to seeing him somber and strong.

Yet, every single time he comes on his brother’s show, some of that gubernatorial posture disappears and the big brother comes out.

Check out these exchanges:
